Dear International Dreamers Scholarship Fund,

I am writing to express my sincere gratitude to you for making the International Dreamers Scholarship Fund possible.  I was thrilled to learn of my selection for this honor and I am deeply appreciative of your support.

My name is Carolina Hernandez.  I am originally from Mexico.  I immigrated to the United States in 2006 looking for a better future and to reunite with my mother after seven years without seeing her.  Being undocumented in this country has been a difficult experience that now fuels me to pursue my dream to become a Math teacher.   I believe that my immigration status should not limit me from achieving my goals.  I hope that when I become a math teacher I can empower others to achieve their dreams.

The financial assistance that International Dreamers Scholarship Fund has provided me helps me pay for my educational expenses, and allows me to focus on the most important aspect of school, learning. Your generosity has inspired me to help others and give back to the community.  The scholarship has given me hope to believe that my dreams are possible no matter what.

I currently attend Kingsborough Community College. I am majoring in Mathematics with hopes of becoming a secondary Math teacher.  I love tutoring in math, that is why I currently tutor middle school students through Breakthrough New York that preps students for high school and college. I also tutor high school students in algebra to prep them for the New York State Regents Integrated Algebra Exams.  I love what I do and hope that through tutoring I’m making a difference.

Thank you again for your generosity and support.  I hope one day I will be able to help students achieve their goals just as you have helped me.

Sincerely,

Carolina Hernandez
